Here Under Protest
04:30
|
|||
Don’t want to be here – don’t want to stay here
I want to be off on my motherfucking way
Don’t want to live here – sure don’t want to die here
But I am here because there’s more hell left to pay
What have I got here – I’m gonna rot here
Meat and gristle slides completely off the bone
A contemplation of the situation
Retaliate against the things I can’t condone
Here under duress – here under protest
Eyes of the dying staring blankly up at me
Corruption binges – while the syringes
Cake with blood from veins that fuel the parody
Brothers and sisters riddled with blisters
Walk the mile to find redemption every day
The mothers crying – the children dying
The lost solution hangs in space so far away
Don’t want to be here – how I want to leave here
Want to eradicate what eats away my soul
I can’t conceive it – or disbelieve it
But must defeat it before it assumes control
Lying continues – a promise untrue
A false assurance of a savior looking on
A resignation to the situation
Here under protest until all of us are gone

Godless
05:51
|
|||
You claim that I walk without God
You blame and your ilk applauds along
You say you hate what I’ve become
So afraid that I’m not the only one
Communion – pour the wine
Reunion of the swine
The pigs march in line
You try to buy a spot beside the host
You cry and try to hide from suspicious Holy Ghost
Throw your holy water as you dread my return
Come sit in my lap when it comes our time to burn
Communion – choke it down
Delusion through the town
As pigs roll on the ground
You claim that I live without God
In shame – glass houses seem so very odd
You pay the final tithe to salvage what could be
Denying that you’re godless and just like me

The Moon Says Goodbye
05:09
|
|||
How many stars will continue to fall
Until nothing but black is the sky
‘til the moon sits alone in its ocean so dark
‘til the night that it too says goodbye
The grains of the sand that build up the beach
One by one from existence they fade
Until nothing is left but the gray solitude
On this barren dead rock we have made
This rock is not filled with the kindness and love
That memory states was once here
It’s marked with the blemishes from turning the dirt
And filled with the ones we hold dear
The diggers scoop down in the stony cold ground
To keep up with all the demand
Another has fallen, put them on the pile
If need be we’ll dig with our hands
The stones of the cairn stacked so neatly in place
Just a second to capture our breath
Then the bell tolls again with the news that’s so grim
Another has marched to their death
Fingers dig deep in the dark muddy Earth
To find room to put just one more
Work so much harder than we did yesterday
As our numbers far less than before

Hornswoggled
04:19
|
|||
Jabbed the poker in my eye
Come the dark – no comfort for the blind
Tempted by a loving hand
That pulled the wool to cover up the plan
I can – I do – but now I don’t
Can you – will you – I expect you won’t
There is zero chance for hope
Sifting through the things that burned to smoke
Vows and meanings day by day
Vanish with the life that’s gone away
Take the ring – put it around my throat
Can you – will you – it’s the tale you wrote
In my barren broken head
All the things that could have been instead
Cross my heart and hope to die – pluck the needle wipe it dry
Now I lay me down to rest – and wait for dreams to manifest
Cross my heart and close the wound – much too late as I have been consumed
Now I lay me down to see just what these dreams will bring to me
In this aftermath so cruel
I realize how completely I was fooled
Beaten by that loving hand
Clawed away my reason strand by strand
Pour the dirt into the hole
You can – you did – cover up my soul
Walk away with what has been
As my mind replays again, again

To My Boy
04:33
|
|||
To my boy – I watched you sleep
Watched you grow into a man
I dried your eyes – the tears you cried
Now please remember if you can
Time has come for you to go
And I just want you to know
To my boy – I saw you taking on
A struggle that no boy should face
Forced to choose – and someone had to lose
And face a void they can’t replace
Time has come to say goodbye
Only ‘til another time
Another week, another day
But I am never far away
To my dad – please don’t be sad
And rest assured, I understand
By letting go you’ve let me know
How to be a bigger man
Time will come, so please endure
Until I see you dad, once more
Another month, another year
I will always be so near

Spite Fuck
05:49
|
|||
Toss me some scraps and keep me wanting
Toss me a lie to keep me around
Reel in the line as I drown in the open air
Is that lust in your eye as I break down?
Do you think your touch brings me pleasure?
Carnal knowledge used to bind the wound
Nail my hands to the cross and render me useless
Neophyte – spite has come to consume
Give me a reason to keep breathing
Any reason at all that isn’t you
Naked crossing the floor is not salvation
The spite fuck you’ll receive killing me too
In a pool of fluids, I lay dying
Laughter rings in my head and doesn’t try to pretend
Claws in my back – the cycle repeating
Another spite fuck – let it end

No Justice
03:48
|
|||
Where is justice? Where is peace?
Where is relief to be released?
The night fell and the system failed us again
Not one damn thing was made great again
What holds the scales to balance what’s right?
What lines the purse of those with the might?
The sheep follow blindly, do what they’re told
The small huddle en masse to see who is sold
No justice, none that my eyes can see
Not a thing my fathers would dare believe
The draft dodgers, liars cough up the rules
From behind their smiles, they play us for fools
No justice, none for those in the need
Cut ‘em open, make bets on how much they bleed
Drag the corpses away, don’t clean where they died
A small reminder for those who would question the lie
Where is justice, when did she leave?
Now that she’s dead, is there time to grieve?
The night’s here and the system rests in its sleep
It dreams of tomorrow, and the souls it will reap

Ebenezer
05:40
|
|||
Ebenezer sat out front in overalls
Waiting for a package that would never come
Scratched his head beneath his thinning, gray hair
And pondered his existence, troublesome
Ebenezer walked the road in dungarees
Looking for the things he once held dear
Summer sun brought lines of sweat that trickled down his face
He hoped answers would appear
Where did they go?
Would they return?
Ebenezer worked the earth for his next meal
Hoping against hope for sustenance
Prayed for rain but day by day was met with drought
In spite of bended knee and penitence
Ebenezer lit a candle, watched it burn away
Looking for the things he missed so much
Summer moon lit the stones that marked the graves
Hopes and dreams he could no longer touch
Why did they go?
What took them away?
Ebenezer pulled the shades to end the day
One no better than the one that came before
Said his prayers but suspected they would be ignored
‘Til the day he prayed no more
The whippoorwill off in the night cried its lonely song
As Ebenezer lie in tears
Hour after hour, hear the chiming of the bells
The dismal soundtrack of his fears

Ride Away
05:01
|
|||
I got the news today—there is no hope anymore
Ticking clock—I cannot sleep—so afraid of what I’m in for
The writing on the wall tells fables—pretty tales that cannot be
Written out by fingers dipped in blood
Whose prints would lead you to me
Don’t want to cry again – just forgive me for my sins
So scared to ride away
Take my hand and keep me home
A flood of endless passions—angst to searing rage
No way to share this cross that is mine ‘til end of days
I’m going to cry again – to return to where I’d been
And never ride away
At last an end to sadness—at last be free of pain
Promise me continue on until we meet again
I’ll never cry again – I now embrace the end
And finally ride away
Free from harm – carry on

The Greater Evil
05:40
|
|||
The image insane that you've painted of me is now true
I have turned into the beast that you wanted me to
Come lay in bed with me
Come wake the dead with me
Try to escape from me
Embrace your hatred of me
The greater evil
Have you attained all you wished for from this pack of lies
May their weight come bearing down suffocating your cries
Come share a drink with me
Say what you think of me
Shiver in fear of me
Don't waste a tear on me
The greater evil
Evil in my heart now that we’re apart
Is my false admission of guilt what you want me to say
Now that you have what you wanted will you go away
Take my respect from me
Leaving the defect of me
Take one last look at me
And see that the end comes from me
And the evil awakened in me

The day salvation went away
The rain came from a sky so gray
A battle fought to victory twice
The third time he paid the price
The day the laugher came no more
The sorrow came and he crumbled to the floor
The day, the oh so dreadful day salvation went away
The day his heart went cold and had no more to say
A battle lost in a dreadful scream
A battle lost…
The day the sun set for one last time
The darkness came – and the sentence fit the crime
The day he had no one to blame
The day salvation went so far away
A battle wound that could never mend
If only it would mean the end

Clutch your fingers ‘round that book
To impose its will on me
Called to act by liars, crooks
And fear the things you can’t conceive
Wrap your hands around the torches
Burn to ash the open minds
Little care for what it scorches
And swear the act is colorblind
Cherry-pick the things that suit you
What should live and what should die
Boil in oil that which refutes you
Just to please some ghost on high
Force the birth as you’ve crusaded
To further man your acts of war
Turn your back as you’re persuaded
The born can serve your cause no more
Wrap your hands around what’s lying
To justify your cold, dead heart
Shut your ears to years of crying
And crimes that tore your soul apart
Dig deep in your purse on Sunday
The pennies help your master thrive
But what is real will creep in one day
And burn alive your wretched hive
